To strengthen the strategic relationship between the government of El Salvador and Zamorano, a technical-educational visit from a Salvadoran government delegation began on Monday, January 20, at the Panamerican Agricultural School, Zamorano.
The delegation started their day with a tour of Zamorano’s main campus, where they had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the institution’s academic and research facilities. The visit continued with a tour of the dairy and meat processing plants, as well as the food analysis laboratory, where they observed the technical and educational processes that Zamorano implements in these areas.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the institution’s solar park, the post-harvest plant, the horticultural processing area, and the water purification plant. Here, they learned about the technological innovations applied in academic training and the sustainability of these projects.
The day concluded with a meeting between the delegation and Salvadoran students currently studying at Zamorano, providing an opportunity to hear about their experiences. The evening wrapped up with a dinner with Zamorano authorities, further strengthening the bonds of cooperation.
On the second day of their visit, the delegation had an official meeting with Zamorano’s President, Sergio Rodríguez Royo, and Vice President and Academic Dean, Dr. Ana Maier, accompanied by Johana Oporta, Zamorano’s representative in El Salvador. The meeting aimed to deepen the dialogue on potential areas of collaboration and academic exchange programs between both countries. Notably, in December 2024, 22 Salvadoran students received scholarships from the government of El Salvador through the first edition of the "Programa Agrobecas" to study at Zamorano.
The visit continued with tours of the aquaculture module, poultry farming, integrated crop management, climate change, dairy cattle farming, and the biological control laboratory, highlighting the scientific and technological advances being integrated into student education. In the evening, the delegation will attend a dinner with the Salvadoran community at Zamorano and the institution’s authorities, further strengthening ties between the two countries.
The delegation will return to El Salvador on Wednesday, January 23, leaving open the possibility for new joint initiatives and projects aimed at further strengthening academic and technical cooperation between the government of El Salvador and Zamorano.
