Sergio Rodr\u00edguez Royo, President of the Escuela Agr\u00edcola Panamericana, and Horacio Rodr\u00edguez V\u00e1zquez, Director of Institutional Development, held high-level meetings with representatives of government, international organizations and civil society organizations.<\/p>\n\n

Washington, D.C., U.S.A. - June 6, 2024
<\/strong>From June 3 to 5, Sergio Rodr\u00edguez Royo, Rector of the Escuela Agr\u00edcola Panamericana, and Horacio Rodr\u00edguez V\u00e1zquez, Director of Institutional Development, conducted the third international tour of the year 2024, this time in the capital of the United States of America.<\/p>\n\n

This activity is part of Zamorano's global positioning strategy, through the generation of new alliances and the strengthening of existing collaborations with key partners in the North American nation that support the implementation of the 2030 Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n\n

During their official trip to Washington, D.C., Sergio Rodr\u00edguez Royo and Horacio Rodr\u00edguez V\u00e1zquez held high-level meetings with authorities from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the CGIAR International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).<\/p>\n\n

Zamorano's President and Director of Institutional Development also participated in the dialogue \"A Vision for the Adapted Crops and Soils Program in Guatemala,\" organized by IICA and the U.S. Department of State and held at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Monday, June 3. The event was also attended by Cary Fowler, Special Envoy for Global Food Security of the Government of the United States of America; Maynor Estrada, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Guatemala; Rattan Lal, a scientist who received the World Food Prize in 2020 for his research on soils; Jos\u00e9 Fern\u00e1ndez, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy and Environment, U.S. Department of State; Alison Taylor, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM); Margaret Zeigler, IICA Representative in the United States of America; and Manuel Otero, Director General of IICA. It is important to note that Zamorano was the only university present at this high-level event.<\/p>\n\n

As part of this mission, Sergio Rodr\u00edguez Royo and Horacio Rodr\u00edguez V\u00e1zquez also met with Zamorano graduates currently working in different institutions based in Washington, D.C.: Ana R\u00edos (Guatemala, Class of 1998) from the IDB; Jos\u00e9 Falck-Zepeda (Honduras, Class of 1984) and V\u00edctor Taleon (Guatemala, Class of 2005) from IFPRI; and Jorge Wong-Valle (Nicaragua, Class of 1982) from IFC.<\/p>\n\n

The next international tour of Zamorano's President and Director of Institutional Development is planned to take place in Ecuador during the month of August.<\/p>\n\n
